Mado Mado has been practicing and loving yoga for about ten years. In 2005, Mado graduated from the Asheville Yoga Center Teacher training program and began teaching yoga at the Downtown Asheville YMCA. Teaching at the YMCA has been an incredible learning experience for Mado, allowing her to observe and assist hundreds of students of varying experience and ability. In 2006, Mado fell in love with Anusara yoga and this style has influenced her teaching ever since. "The practice of yoga keeps getting deeper for me" Mado says. "At first I practiced because it made me feel good physically, but the more I learn about yoga the more I see how the practice connects with every aspect of my life. It makes me a better parent and a better person and helps me to appreciate my life the way it is, moment by moment. Life is always changing, so I practice and I teach to help myself and my students connect to our unchanging core, our true selves so that we may accept the fluctuations of life with equanimity. Anusara is a system of yoga that uses the simple yet sophisticated universal principles of alignment in order to bring our bodies into union with nature and help us celebrate the gifts of our lives. This style is physically challenging, yet deeply spiritual, demanding that we live our lives fully and deeply and approach our yoga practice in the same way. I love Anusara because it goes so deep, yet there is room for humor and connection with others. I strive to teach with compassion, humor, and inspiration, and I honor my students as my most important teachers." Mado wishes to offer deep gratitude and thanks to all her yoga teachers, including her students, her mother Francoise, her daughter Ciel, John Friend, Stephanie Keach, Deirdre Smith Gilmer, and Joe Taft.
