As the owner of the Namaste Yoga Sanctuary, I find the best part of my busy day to be the times when I am teaching a yoga class. When I am in the yoga hall, I basically put everything else on hold. For me, teaching yoga is a profound sharing of the Self. It’s the time when I can really draw my focus inward to express what I love with an attentive group of students. I’m usually pretty good about doing my own yoga practice, but teaching, as a great gift and responsibility, is the deepest practice I can imagine. My hope is to have students leave class feeling shifted in some way, however slight, as though they just had an experience of yoga, an opening of themselves. Read Derek's full bio...
